Ever wonder how much data center waste happens from massive Java servers running Java 6 because the apps were built against old libraries that don't exist anymore or aren't compatible with the app code anymore if it were upgraded, but it's OK because those boxes are behind a NAT and a web proxy now, so problem solved, right?

Or how much of these inefficiencies are written off as "the cost of cloud" cause they're CapX dollars instead of OpX, so we can just spend more money instead of making the code efficient enough to run on the hardware we otherwise might have purchased for way less money.
