If you took all the money the UK sent to Ukraine to fund the US's proxy war you could literally solve homelessness in this country.
Yet another reason why I think it is morally right to not pay tax.
Not only is it thrft but the state is horrible at allocating resources and doesn't give a shit about helping its own people.
And yes I do donate my own money to homeless and other causes I believe are important.
There will always be the less fortunate. Sometimes they need the handout. Sometimes they do want a hand up.
I think the state, ostensibly elected by and for the people (lol) has more of a duty to look after those people than printing money for weapons.
I don’t know about the UK, but in the US military contracts are a very expensive jobs program. Every decade or so they need a war to burn down inventory and reinforce the need for their existence
Yeah we don't really have a huge military industrial complex here the same way the US does.

Poor decisions by the UK government over the the years have made it almost a vassal state. They had a exit door at the start of the 2nd Iraq War and they chose ride or die.

I'm actually friends with a few homeless people around London. I'll buy them lunch and chat with them.
This is a good documentary of the homless people in Galway in Ireland in the 90's . It was a different time back then when drink was their biggest vice. Very different these days .
I've straight up given codeine and Valium to em if they are in withdrawal before.
