Ah no, because I believe that enduring love will always beat a "stolen" kiss, he wrote to explain the thrill of lovers and novelty versus partners. Whenever I see an ild couple after fifty years kissing there I think, there it is, cannot be beaten. I know it was not the context of you mentioning the quote though it surprised me to see this writer mentioned. I do like some of his short stories. Another curiosity is that he died of madness due to neurosyphilis because ahem "stealing too many kisses" I mean he was very promiscuous, so irony of the quote.

Sorry for the long explanation lol 😆 take it as a curiosity

Thank you for the explanation, I didn't get the interpretation of the thrill of lovers and novelty until you mentioned it. I interpreted it like a "power" game, you get something that you are not supposed to have, that make more sense if you are talking about the thrill of the forbidden as you said.

I'm not too familiar with Guy, I read the Horla some years ago and that's it.

It is interesting though to know that he was promiscuous lover and a member of the Treponema Pallidum club 😂🤣😂. Thank you again for your explanation. Followed 😉😊🤙
