I had another thought to add today. The biggest obstacle for most people to move to Nostr isn’t that they would have to learn a new technology. That happens all the time. It’s that they would have to change their self-perceptions and attitudes toward others.

I still think that people are good from nature and here they are just not being sterred and tricked by the algorithm.

On other social platforms you are exposed on content that is ment to make you angry and provoke to argue because it creates more attachment.

For sure, but remember that social media has mind-altering chemically-addictive properties, so as with any habits, it’s not easy to break, and doing so will trigger withdrawal symptoms. Ask me how I know this.

I think nostr fits the schema of habit reprogramming by changing bad habit into similar good one.

We have to expect that people will stumble as they figure it out, and do our best to welcome them. They have been victims of psychological abuse for so long. Zaps are a big part of the positive feedback loop.

#[6] does amazing job and his notes are a great example of what you describing.

Also pages like nostr.how and other initiatives like #[7] YT videos with nostr tutorials.

Thanks, just curious what do you like about my notes?

I'm constantly seeing your notes like 'hey if you are newcomer, drop your LN invoice, I will pay it, if you have any questions feel free to ask' something in this manner.

Is like to imagine this like entering some wonderland and some native is welcoming you, 'I will be your guide, let me show you our land and culture'.

#[7] is the OG. I just help when I can. Use the hashtag #plebchain to ge new follows and signal.

I’m guessing the masses don’t even know what public/private keys are yet and those long numbers look scary to them. “Account Usernames and Passwords” make sense to them. Might take another generation to pass for the masses to adopt? But I’m hypothesising here…hopefully quicker! Good UX and UI onboarding pretty key too.

It might even be simpler than that… To me it’s a social dynamic. If their friends are here, they’ll come.

Change is a bitch for many….

I use Twitter as a news source and bookmarking tool, to “listen” I’ve invested a lot in following certain people. Transferring that set up to Nostr isn’t automated it’s a PITA. Same with setting up everything new here, from profile pic to a LN wallet whatever. Switching costs are friction on top of leaning the new tech.

The algorithm system is horrible to mankind

It’s crazy that people put up with it. I feel sorry for them.
