The road of life is very long, but there are only a few crucial steps!
I remember in 2007, before my daughter graduated from Griffith University in Brisbane, Australia, we had a lengthy telephone discussion via long-distance calls between Wenzhou and Australia. From when my daughter began her studies in International Business at the Sino-Australian Cooperation University in Beijing in 2001, obtained her undergraduate degree in International Business from the University of Southern Queensland in Australia, participated in several TAFE courses, to finally graduating with a Master's in Accounting from Griffith University, six whole years had passed. As she was about to graduate, she asked me: Should she return to work in China or stay in Australia? If returning to China, should she consider Hong Kong first, then Shanghai?
I deeply understand: the road of life is very long, but there are only a few crucial steps! This is a matter that cannot be taken lightly! Many Chinese parents either make decisions for their children in matters such as education, work, or marriage, or completely let go, claiming to observe the child's development, decisions, and fate. However, I believe this is simply evading the responsibility of being the head of the family! Although children graduate from school and are already in their twenties, they are adults and can make their own decisions! But they lack worldly experience and have no understanding of the dangers of society and the dirtiness of human nature. At such crucial moments, as a father, one must guide their children well and be a good advisor! This is especially true for ordinary people's children! Otherwise, it would be negligence! However, as children grow up, their own aspirations must be respected. Forcing them to follow one's own wishes is not good at all! Because children are absolutely not your own property! So, I first told her: China is a society based on power and networks, this is an undeniable fact! Despite many years of reform and opening up, many things cannot be changed! Power outweighs the law, this is something that was extensively discussed nationwide shortly after you were born, but it ended up unresolved! In other words: if your old man is a cadre above the vice-ministerial level, then after you return to China, I can still "cover" a county, a city, or even half a province (which is more challenging). In other words, it means that if your old man belongs to the privileged class, things would be relatively easier! But unfortunately, your old man is just an extremely ordinary, jobless, powerless ordinary teacher! The network is extremely limited, and the financial ability to bribe is also limited. There is simply no way to help you or get things done! My daughter replied: I'll consider for two days. I said: Okay! Two days later, my daughter called and said she had made a decision to stay and work in Australia! Thanks to God's blessing, my daughter obtained her Permanent Resident (PR) visa (green card) one year later.
