You at least have access to it, but I think you’ll find a lot of people here decry that as well. I do use Alby for zaps, but I custody my “pile” 🤣
i mean, for the ZBD app, its not like im using it for my main wallet or anything. Its literally just recieiving zaps and then u can cashout on bitrefill for cool gift cards. Its not like theres gonna be millions of sats or bitcoin up in here. Its just a cool way of feeling rewarded and getting paid for your posts. Instead of getting dogshit nothing on other platforms who essentially already take your data. Maybas well get some sats for it. and TBH the ZBD people seem like really cool and good people. They can hold my key. fuck it, we ball. LOL

Yes. And I’ve heard that PR term for user-hostile behavior from several other places. I don’t develop for Nostr specifically, but I do develop (I even get paid for it from time to time) so I’m not buying that basic functionality required for users to maintain control over their data or experience is an “oversight” or a technological “hurdle” to be overcome. Nostr has a “not your keys not your corn” culture. As a developer in this ecosystem, there is no excuse for ZBD to not know that.
Your business simply has different priorities than I do. That is fine. Frankly it has different priorities than I read most of Nostr having. That is also fine.
“We build fast” or “this is an alpha” is not a valid excuse. It’s a sign of irresponsibility at best, and a values misalignment at worst.
In either case, it loses the good will of the people who care about said things.
WOS is custodial, that's correct. But very different scenarios. Your wallet isn't your identity. You can have several and pick a wallet that suits the situation, move funds between them, etc. Your nsec is your identity. I'd much rather custody my identity so I can move it from client to client. Your identity is stuck in ZBD. They own it.
Ahhhh i feel you. I understand. Im gonna place my bets down and say that ZBD will be the leading forefront for mainstream “Bitcoin Zapping on Posts” type beat. They can have my identity. What is identity anyways? Are we really our human meatsuits? Or are we more than that… Are we divine eternal souls? Idk. You tell me. Im not too grounded on this idea of identity. Things change. People change. People die. What is identity? One day your a 5 year old, the next day your a adult. Does the 5 year old still exist? Hmm what is identity…
Identity in this context really means your social graph and content produced. Lets say you build a following and some great content on ZBD, but tomorrow they do something you really do not approve of. Guess what? You're screwed. Sure you can go create a new identity on another app, but you'll lose everything you built. It's the exact same issue as twitter/YouTube/Facebook etc...

Hey both! We’re still in alpha actually. So we’ve got a road ahead of us. We are figuring out the most user friendly ways to present nostr to folks at a slow pace. You’re not screwed if you mess up here. We have awesome customer support and a team that cares.
With that said, this feedback has been received LOUD AND CLEAR and our product team is iterating and iterating to make nsecs a reality for ZBD users. We want to keep it simple stupid. 🫡✨

And by screwed I mean "you can't leave with your identity on your own accord". Maybe you have a solid customer support team, but I'd still have to ask someone and get permission to leave with my identity which is a no-go for me. It's great to hear it's on the roadmap though. Looking forward to it 🤙
