Can’t live without a running node!

Installing a new one with a less complex setup and more automated back-ups… for sure will also be more conservative about opening lightning channels from now on…

Hi! Do you mind elaborate "a less complex setup" please? I run a node too and I don't want to lose sats and be #reckless

I had Umbrel installed on a virtual ubuntu server running on Proxmox. Turns out Proxmox is very unstable on my hardware and corrupted my umbrel harddrive.

I now just have it installed bare bone (not virtual) and will install back-up software to automatically save my channel backup file daily.

Just be sure to have a channel backup every time you open or close a channel, don't rely on automatic back-ups by Umbrel itself or Amboss (both didnt work for me).

Got it! Just fyi, I run StartOS bare and the recommended backup for LND is included in the built-in OS backup flow. Now I guess should manually backup the channel state too (via RTL/Thunderhub) just in case.

Ah yes, unfortunately Umbrel doesn’t really have a built-in backup solution, only for LN channels… but that doesn’t always work somehow… would like to see a way to restore all apps or a full system restore without any self-build solutions
