Helps with shifting time during editing. If they were see-through we'd have a better understanding of the passage of time. That's my hypothesis.

I wasn’t expecting to get so many quick and intelligent answers - makes sense! #ThankYouNostr

It’s for continuity. They can mix up scenes without having the audience be confused as to why wine is disappearing then reappear in their glasses. It’s actually a common trope around love/dating reality shows. Love Island (UK) being the biggest one of the last several years, if you haven’t seen it check it out. Great trash tv! ā˜ŗļø

A few reasons:

- it helps the editing process. They edit the shit out of that show. This way, they can jump around in the conversation and you won’t notice the drink level going up or down. Especially since some of those scenes takes place over multiple hours.

- sometimes they are empty. Helps conversation for those who don’t want to drink and the other one is. More comfortable to have something in hand.

Interesting! What shows have you produced for? I’m a reality TV fanatic. Don’t judge me, lol.

I’ve worked for ESPN for 10 years. So not exactly reality tv. But close to it. Haha

I noticed Netflix and Hulu have been doing it with all their reality love contest. I think the companies don’t have a particular alcohol or beverage company that they’re endorsing so they go with those and people drink whatever.
