It’s going to be tough picking between the two choices! My grandma is in HK but would love to be in Tokyo for the Unconference too. Which one to pick!? 😅

Yeah I'm probably just going to to go Japan lol

Yeah I’m not going to HK.. Japan seems like a strange place to have it too, particularly when Boracay is trying to become a Bitcoin sanctuary

There are a lot of Japanese users coming on though, and Japan is a really fucking cool place.

I don't know about doing something in HK at the same time as Japan though because all the core nostriches who you'd want on the ground will want to go to Japan instead. Better to do it a week before or a week after.

Thailand is another awesome location to think about.

I think the goal is more to give those who want to meet up in Hong Kong an opportunity to participate and get together 🫂

I didn't fully grok the part about "meetup" vs "unconference" before I started replying, good that people are thinking of HK ❤️

Realise there’s a lot of Japanese users here and my point isn’t against them, just to me it makes more sense to A) support bitcoin economies like Boracay and B) make it more accessible - Japan is the most expensive, least tourist friendly, and perhaps least BTC friendly option in the region.

LightningCon in Da Nang had locals + Thais + Malaysians + Filipinos and Indonesians because it is more affordable and they were all talking about nostr too.

Oh you went to that? All my friends went and I really wanted to go but nsotrica was at the same time

Yeah it was a good and 28 hours one-way from Melbourne to CR was too much for me!

The trick to surviving these long journeys is to remember that it's not as bad as the siege of Stalingrad

We can attend virtually right? And how?

Thank you for your tolerance. November will bring love from Nostr to Asia🫂

HKers travel to Japan all the time. The point of a HK conference IMO is to reach mainland Chinese who can travel to HK easily but have trouble getting to Japan.

I assume the first part and didn’t realize the second part. Thanks!

I mean it's not impossible for mainland Chinese to get to Japan, it's just cheaper and easier to get to HK.

It's also less emotionally and linguistically challenging, especially for the average semi-autistic developer who doesn't even like leaving their apartment most days

lol semi autistic or otaku?

I'll teach them my teleporting skill
