Many 'invest' in bitcoin in the hope that 1btc will equal significantly more USD in the future. But the irony is that 1btc = 1btc now and forever is the actual investment. USD price of btc is just a distraction.

Agree with your broader point, but many no-coiners will have to see NGU technology to break the lockhold of the current system. There is much FUD out there confusing people. For the next 10 years, there will be billions of people at different stages of adoption and knowledge.
But 1 btc = 1 btc implies that
2 btc > 1btc
And that leads to the conclusion that
buying 2 btc at $ 20k makes more sense than buying 1 btc at $ 40k

Right. That's an issue of value for money at time of purchase. Def not saying buying 2btc for 30k is the same as 1 for 30k. Clearly the former is better. Just saying buying bitcoin in the hope of gaining more USD is a distraction.
