As long as their wallet has the ability to purchase Bitcoin using fiat rails, there will be KYC involved, and I think that feature is helpful for those who are new to Bitcoin, so they can dip their toes in with a relatively low barrier to entry. If there is a group Primal is targeting with their app, it's the person who is not well versed in either Bitcoin or Nostr. It is not a client designed for power-users of either protocol.
Discussion
I don't care about this noise.
No KYC.
1. You can use your own wallet if it supports NWC if you don't want KYC.
2. If you are on iOS, I would not be surprised to see the above option added soon, given the recent ruling against Apple.
3. Your beef is not with Primal when it comes to KYC laws for anything that touches fiat. Write your congressman.
The only option for Primal to remove KYC on their wallet would be to take away the ability to purchase sats and partner with a different wallet provider (Primal currently partners with Strike, a regulated money transmitter), which they think is an important feature for their target users, so not likely to happen.
Anything is possible, like a no KYC, BTC/lightning wallet.
Sure. nostr:nprofile1qqst4qyeqenw7zm0fwjsty68h6cnys5jre2xd8ngqpjv5a2j26s78fspzemhxue69uhhyetvv9ujucm0d9hx7uewd9hj75a0pev would do the trick. Then just connect it to Primal via NWC.
But when it comes to Primal's built-in wallet, provided by Strike, the need for KYC isn't going to change unless they remove the ability to buy sats with fiat from the wallet and they switch wallet providers away from Strike. I don't see them being inclined to do either.
Dikaios1517, money is deeper than laws, and laws are what's forcing KYC. Since Bitcoin is freedom money, eventually, the laws that require KYC will be repealed, and then Primal, if it's still around, will be able to have a non-KYC Bitcoin/lightning wallet. It's only a matter of time.
100% agree! Looking forward to that day!
But it's the laws we have to work toward repealing first, not going after Primal, and really Strike, for being required to comply with them to continue operating. Hence why I mentioned writing your congressman rather than asking Primal to remove KYC. Primal will gladly remove KYC once congress repeals KYC laws.
Your response is a pile of lies and codependence and control. There is no "we." I don't "have to" do anything. I did not "go after" Primal. I'm not interested in your unsolicited, controlling and codependent advice to do anything, let alone write my congressman.
Dikaios1517, I wanted to write to apologize for my overactive and accusative and contentious way I interacted with you. You didn't deserve my negative because you were only trying to help me. I let negative stuff going on with me spill over to how I interacted with you, and that's very not okay and I won't let it happen again. Will you forgive me?
I get it brother, and I forgive you. Figured something must have had your hackles up, so I decided it wasn't worth responding anymore.
Hope all is well, and since your bride let the cat out of the bag, congratulations on the little one on the way!
Thank you! Apparently my "hackles" were quite agitated.
We're expecting and it's great and a massive learning experience.
