The four photos that sum up 2025 for me. Friends old and new showed up in a huge way and made my dream a reality.

I’m declaring 2026 the year of the value for value economy. I’ve made sure that everyone who helps with the house has been compensated, either financially, educationally or with food 😋 This is a model that works and should be expanded to other people who want dome homes. We can create a win-win economy where the client and world ends up with something beautiful, and the creators are paid so they can spend more of their time building and making art. This is becoming more possible on the internet thanks to Nostr and the Bitcoin Lightning network, but it’s also a philosophy we can apply in our local communities, paying people who care instead of corporations that just care about their bottom line. We should all be able to make a living doing what we love, and I believe that is possible.

I agree with you, and I think it actually goes even deeper than Jesus quoting the OT. When Jesus speaks, He is not appealing to an external authority. He is speaking as the same Lord who gave it in the first place.

That is why He can say, “You have heard it said… but I say to you.” He is not revising Moses. He is the one who spoke to Moses.

Titus 1:2–3 makes this explicit. God, who cannot lie, promised before the ages began, and at the proper time manifested His word through preaching. That promise before time is not abstract. It is Christ Himself. Paul is saying the same Lord who gave the Law later revealed Himself in the flesh.

So when Jesus interprets Torah, He is not re-reading it. He is revealing its original voice. That is why He can say, “Moses wrote about Me.” The Torah was not merely pointing forward. It was already Christ speaking.

That’s why your use of the word vantage stood out to me. I read it as Christ being the standpoint from which all Scripture is rightly understood. But I’m curious what you had in mind by it. Were you thinking of perspective, fulfillment, or something else?

That’s what I meant by Christ being the vantage point. He is not just the lens through which we read Scripture. He is the author who steps onto the page and explains His own words.

You know what would be crazy? Just deciding to skip punctuation.

Cormac McCarthy, the bestselling and Pulitzer-winning author of books like No Country For Old Men, The Road, and Blood Meridian, famously didn't like quotation marks, felt they cluttered the page, and so he didn't use them.

When dialogue happens in his novels, there are no quotes around it, and you as the reader just have to figure out when a line is narration or dialogue. He also didn't use semicolons or exclamation points or certain other forms of punctuation. While he didn't exclude commas entirely, he did minimize them, and instead used extra "ands" in place of where many other authors would use commas. He used periods normally.

His prose isn't my cup of tea, but there's no denying his success, and it goes to show that you can kind of just do things.

Agreed. This thread was about likes versus zaps. I think they made a terrible mistake when they kept these actions separated. People love zaps—even trolls love them. Trolls will troll less if there are better incentives for doing good.

I pay for a lot of things I don't love. I pay my electric bill, and I don't love them. In fact, they don't entertain me at all. I pay my car payment, and I don't love Chevy; I like my car, so maybe that counts as love.

Of course, the difference is that not only do I not love them, I have to pay them a lot more than tiny fractions of a penny. But the stuff I do love? I love it a whole lot more. If I only had to pay those companies less than a penny… Maybe I could negotiate them down to satoshis. What do you think? I might love them more.

Well, I think part of it was that we're new to motorhomes, and the guy I flagged down who used to be a mechanic thought it was the alternator when it didn't start, but it turned out that we had two 6v batteries as house batteries, and we didn't know until much later, so God actually protected us from way worse things that could have happened given our misuse of those 6v batteries 😬

So, we learned a lot, and will probably always try to bring at least one solar panel with us from now on, until we get them installed on the roof.

I had an idea that might have worked, but since I don't know vehicles very well, and when two men who have both worked on cars at least some, didn't seem to think it would matter, I didn't push it. It may still not have worked in our case, but had we had some use of the starter battery, it probably would have.

Haha, apparently I need to learn to stick up for myself even when I don't seem to have any authority in an area, cause my ideas may be inspired from God who has all the authority and knowledge 😅

Ah, yes, I used to do this a lot in the past, but this has some major drawbacks that irritate me, so eventually i stopped doing it. Today I only go for single shot frames. They are harder to properly expose and focus in certain situations, but it forces me to be more mindful about both. As a result, I get a lot less image trash and I don’t wear down my gear and my physical memory. Post processing after is much simpler and straightforward, so I lose less time and energy in the development process. I also get more naturally looking photos.

Sure, bracketing and focus stacking can be a powerful tool, but I don’t like the tradeoffs. Most pros do them all the time. If you’re shooting Nightscapes for example, there’s no way around it. For my workflow tho, it’s not a requirement and I’ve learned to do well without it.
