have you tried in other clients or just damus? what happens when you try to follow someone?

This would be my advice. Clearly has a working key pair or wouldn't be able to post. Perhaps some obscure issue with the client on that particular iPhone model?
I am in a iPhone 13 Pro with iOS version 16.6 😊
When I click follow the button turns black and says: “Unfollowing”.
Then I try and click again and then it says “Following” - but nothing happens.
