I refused to sign a horrifically draconian NDA. Let's see if that's the trigger to end my current employment. 😎

What I do outside of working hours in my own business, and no one wants your "trade secrets" for parts that no competent engineer or fabricator would build, anyway. 🙄

It's not a non-compete (though there is one clause that's a partial non-compete), it's a non-disclosure. Different and not under that particular (and flawed, IMO) determination.

Sorry, hope it works out. Control freaks are everywhere!

Meh. They know it would be really stupid to kick me to the curb, but... The BS to pay ratio us approaching levels where I'd GTFO on my own, anyway.

When I was in medical electronics, NDA's were pretty standard.

When moved over to automotive (service side)

I started finding places that are really concerned with their employees side hustle.

Too bad. They don't own me. They rent me for the agreed on rate for a very set amount of time. GTFO their high horse and realize that they don't own their employees. Arrogance personified is so repugnant. Ugh.

Protecting ones business as one sees fit, makes a kind of logical sense. (Easily taken way of the rails by many, but a kind of sense)

That said, the intrusion into non-work hour behavior is garbage.

Yup. I often find that kind of mindset stemming from weakness and fear.
