Beyond Free Speech: Unleashing the True Power of Liberty

------------------

It's truly baffling when leftists obsess over free speech while seemingly downplaying the significance of property rights and personal liberties. This skewed perception of freedom is, to put it mildly, utterly perplexing.

Sure, free speech is important. It's the cornerstone of a functioning democracy, enabling the robust exchange of ideas and the voicing of dissent. But let's not forget that it's only one element of true freedom. When compared to property rights and the liberty of movement and association, free speech pales in significance.

Imagine a world where you can say whatever you want, but you can't own anything, travel freely, or hang out with whomever you choose. Would you still feel free? The ability to voice our opinions becomes a hollow privilege in the absence of these more tangible liberties.

Moreover, the fixation on "public" forums is an oddity in itself. The idea that the government or society should regulate the spaces where free speech is exercised only serves to undermine the very essence of the freedom they claim to champion. Instead, let's push for the decentralization of discourse, empowering individuals and communities to shape their own destinies without the looming shadow of state intervention.

So, let's not be misled by the allure of free speech as the ultimate freedom. Instead, let's strive for a world where property rights, personal liberties, and the sanctity of individual choice take precedence. For it is only in such a world that the true spirit of freedom can thrive.

Most of them also want to police "hate speech" so they can't even get that right.

But to your point, what you have to say doesn't matter if you aren't free to act on your brliefs, and put your money & resouces where your mouth is.

I honestly just wish people would cut the shit with all of this binary politics hogwash. This boxing up of people into neat little packages is what got us to this fucked up place we are, it’s put peoples thinking on rails and is destroying our culture.

They right screeches about wokeism forcing an ideology onto society…and their fix is to wield law like a hammer and do exactly what they say the wokeists are doing. Ban drag shows, ban books they don’t like, ban curriculum they disagree with, ban abortion. Ban ban ban.

The left does their own stupid shit. Trying to grow the government into a complete nanny state, and soften us into accepting everyone and everything by law.

But the truth is most people are not this binary. You might love guns and be pro-choice. You can be pro-choice, but againt people getting abortions willy nilly. You can be pro-gun, and also pro gun reform. You can be pro gender affirming care, and against children having sex change surgery….

The more we try to box up people like this the more restrictive our freedoms become. The simple answer is that freedom is the salve that heals all of this. Not restriction, not law, not culture wars. Freedom.

As always, a well-written and well-because thought out piece.

It’s all about property rights.

I am not familiar with leftists who obsess over free speech or who downplay property rights or who downplay personal liberties.

Am I a leftist? What do I know! I thought I was, but whenever I look into a specific issue, I see that I agree with like 60 to 80 percent of Americans.

Anyway, I don't disagree with the note; I in fact agree with the concepts in your note — except baffled by your bafflement.
