haha nice. i was just in machico this morning. i'm not planning to settle here, bit too crazy place for me, but it's nice i don't mind it. i'm over near Faial, nearby, not far from the observatory way up the hill. boaventura was kinda nice but being so close to the sea was oppressive this summer, it's much nicer up the mountain a bit. the big rock in front of the ribeiras here blocks a lot of the clouds and we get clear nights a lot, which is why the observatory is near here.

anyhow, congrats. happy gardening and herding and whatever else you are gonna do there. rural madeira culture is nice, friendly, chilled people.
