Not religious myslef, I like what Newton (allegedly) said:

It's better to believe in God, because if you're wrong there is no risk.

I think if god /gods exist, then him/they prefere you not to believe then believe in wrong one.

So from my point of view believe has greater risk :)

I know at least one religion which consider non-believers "not people" or free to kill non-humas.

I can't remember any which is tolerant to others in original form…

then you are clearly twisting the history. and ignoring the kill the non-believers thing
