Feels like the Kinks

😂 now that you mention it

T take it back after the first song

😂

This song title is terrifying lmfao

😂 and open to many terrifying interpretations too

Failure is incredible actually.

Strong song writing skills that make obscurity very catchy without selling out a single value about their songwriting.

They truly are. Lyrically poignant, yet as you said, obscured, just enough to pique the imagination in a general direction without pushing a specific interpretation. I love their calm, methodical tone. It's gritty & distorted just enough to make it feel a bit like the end of a rough day. I've never understood how they avoided becoming massively popular, like Radiohead.

It's grunge.

Well yeah... but I'm still going to talk it up any chance I get 😁😂

As you should.

Most people are empty though. They need guidance on what to listen to. Can't appreciate gravitate to art because their souls have tapped out on them.

4-4 time signatures and inorganic instrumentation. Top 40. So they can Bob their head to the beat while not thinking.

And they don't want to listen to a fellow human "that simply can't know more than I do, objectively".

"Music and tastes are subjective". It's true they are. But art is objective. There is art, then there is bullshit masquerading as art to provide bread and circus for the wretched normies

I agree. A lot people are empty, numb, or otherwise guarded in way that prevents them from having truly meaningful experiences with art. I can't say it's much different than through most of history, it could just be that I am alive & here to witness it so it seems more prevalent. I don't know, but it sure is hard to find new music that gives me shivers or movie that guts my understanding of its topic anymore. It's out there but it's rare.

i have found that industrial music has been a rich vein, as has ambient music
