One difference is that “zapvertising” pays you directly, whereas traditional online advertising only pays the platform. That said, the 1, 2, 3 sat zap ads can die and those who send them go to hell as far as I’m concerned. They’re not worth the time it takes to sift through my notifications for meaningful interactions. However, if I could set a minimum threshold before someone is allowed to include a message with a zap, or some other criteria like being a follower, etc, then it puts me in control and the advertiser can decide if my attention is worth what I’m asking for it.

What advertiser is going to dole out more than a few cents, for people who may not even have their notifications turned on? Or, without knowing what their threshold is set to?

Their problem, not mine. They’ll know when their campaign flops or succeeds. Ad blockers already exist and many people run them, and yet companies still advertise online.
