You guys wouldn’t know good food if you colonized 5 continents and stole all their spices and recipes.
We did and still didn’t learn 😂. That said, we do have some great chefs and have benefited from the variety of outlets that have come about due to our historical colonialism. But MSBF (main stream British food) is still uninspiring - the Sunday roast being the main exception.
I love the story of how fish and chips came to Britain. Do you know it?
Have a vague idea but do divulge…
Please tell!

If you are in Western Japan come check out my humble citadel! I am slowly taking over the country side. In the next two years will try to get my hunting and trapping license.
Excellent! I was meant to be there next week but family issues got in the way. Personal bucket list - I want to watch a live Sumo bout, so one day a visit will happen.
It’s an immigrant story! 💜🐠🍟

Yep - thanks to French, Portuguese, Spanish, and Eastern European refugees. We must have something purely British? So much influence from various Empires though (Roman and as a result of our own) and that’s great IMO - food transcends power! Would seem we had cider before the Romans though… Perhaps one of the few things we made with little outside influence.
