there was even a major period like this around 600AD in northwestern europe, a runestone was found with a record of these events, suspected to be associated with some heavy volcanic activity
that was only 1400 years ago and the Dryas was about 10000 years ago
too cold and damp and humans are driven back to hunting and nomadic life and populations collapse because there is no way to feed the number of people required for a market civilization
unless we somehow break out of this toxic cycle with governments and slavery when the weather turns bad again it's gonna be more of the same
humans are stupid and short sighted creatures, high civilization is rare and usually requires warm weather, at minimum
