Huh. TIL that the same bible verse that prohibits mixed-fibre clothing also prohibits sowing more than one type of seed in the same field. I wonder how that is squared with things like three sisters planting?

How strict is “field”? Can you have tomatoes surrounded by marigolds? What about in ornamental gardens?

Well, if you were planting in the Middle East when that book was written, you wouldn’t have tomatoes.

I’m not sure the people credited with the early farming revolution were that good as farmers.

Fair point, but you know what I mean. Can you interplant lettuces with your squash, knowing the lettuces will be over before the squash get big enough to swamp them?
