Huh. TIL that the same bible verse that prohibits mixed-fibre clothing also prohibits sowing more than one type of seed in the same field. I wonder how that is squared with things like three sisters planting?

How strict is โ€œfieldโ€? Can you have tomatoes surrounded by marigolds? What about in ornamental gardens?

Well, if you were planting in the Middle East when that book was written, you wouldnโ€™t have tomatoes.

Iโ€™m not sure the people credited with the early farming revolution were that good as farmers.

Pretty sure this was about planting grains.

All I remember is that if you are chaste and attractive enough and you glean the leftover grain in a rich man's field, you're bound to get noticed right and proper, and not just be a side-chick or mistress.
