Once we have zaps more widely deployed, you can use them as a way to check if someone has paid before they can send a message to you.
Lets say you have your profile configured to require payment to DM. The client can query zaps to see if the user has paid, otherwise ignore.
Threads could be configured this way as well. Pay to reply.
