They screwed up something in their ubuntu packages that made my terminal as fast as a tortoise.

Their newest “mutter-common” version is the culprit, and I can’t revert back to an old version since Gnome itself depends on it. All I can do is wait for Canonical to ship a new fix, or change distros entirely.

In other words, fuck Canonical.
