have you actually read about the history of hashcash and bitmessage?

i'm gonna keep saying this until the end of time:

proof of work can only work for one network in the whole world: #bitcoin

first time hearing that

interdasting, tq fer sharing

No, heard a podcast recently where they dived in a little bit, but not really a deep dive.

needs to be better known, the nostr community is full of people who are as dumb as the most naive of the bitcoin forkers of yore, 10 years later

Have you actually read the history of getwired.app ?

no but if PoW was part of its strategy it was doomed from the start

here's some history for you, since you think i'm being facetious

https://wiki.bitmessage.org/index.php/Main_Page

I wonder why this was frozen in time at 2016...

http://www.hashcash.org/

Adam Back made hashcash, the origin of bitcoin's PoW and also Bitmessage

note how that's a HTTP not HTTP address? that's how long ago it was abandoned

i also have to lmfao about the fact that a python server got remote owned like this

i don't think that's what killed the protocol per se but i suspect that someone found a way to beat the "spam resistance" of ... chuckle ... python proof of work... yeah that would have been hard lol

hashcash

bitmessage

parallelcoin

litecoin

need i say more?

there is probably hundreds of examples of projects that failed to make use of PoW and only one that succeeded

What they said in the podcast was like the guy is kind of a psycho (in the good sense), like he had really lots of business ceos wanting to do business with him, even big business like MS, and in the last moment he was always like "no, I don't like you".

I mean, that's also a way to kill adoption 😂

also don't "bruh" me you are an idiot and my only sibling is not an idiot

lmao yes you do

lmao at "I'm not your bruh, guy"

well, I'm not your guy, buddy

bruh it's just a bad argument. 99.99% of open source projects fail for one reason or another. it's dumb to claim that the reason bitmessage didn't take off was because it used pow that wasn't Bitcoin.
