Right now, #Bitcoin price is crossing a wide chasm. $67k is too much for most people to spend on crazy internet money. But sats are too small to reason about—it takes 1400 to make a dollar.

At $1M per whole coin, those problems go away. A sat costs $0.01. That’s when we do a one-time 1:100,000,000 split, keeping the BTC ticker. Overnight, what was once a $1M asset is suddenly a penny stock.

Haha I remember your exploration of unit bias with Cedric’s pod and I think about that a lot. I seriously don’t get why we don’t just do that now. 15 sats for a penny! What a steal! Etc

I do worry about someone’s system somewhere breaking. Fundamentally it’s just semantics but I wonder if someone wrote brittle code somewhere

In the Bitcoin protocol itself, there are only sats. The bundling into tranches of 100M sats is purely a client thing.

Agreed I just worry about some bonehead somewhere rugging someone’s grandma.

Also I worry about confusion if everyone doesn’t switch at the same time. In a way it’s like a social layer soft fork.

It’ll be ok 👌
