Me: it's Sunday evening, it's time to relax!

*Record screech*

Narrator: And that's when my son decided to virus up his computer.

Why is it your job to fix it? πŸ˜‚

He wants to fix it himself, but I'm involved because I want to make sure it's done correctly and not have a security hole on my network.

Never happens on a Mac ..

Medium. No one wants to target small amounts of users. You target the largest audience to get the most hits.

Good enough for me.

I can't figure out Mac OS. I think it's hard 🀣 Linux is my #1 choice though.

I think Windows is so much harder (and uglier). But I’ve been using Macs since the 80’s, so…

I used an Apple IIe on third grade. It was awful 🀣 Haven't used a Mac for more than 10 minutes since.

Strange. Super easy to me. I go on my windows pc and it’s hard to do the basic of things even after being exposed to them for many years

It's because it's what we're used to. I have used a Mac a whole entire 10 minutes my whole life. And those 10 minutes I could not figure out how to do anything. How to search. How to open apps. How to print. How to connect to WiFi. It's all so incredibly hard 🀣

They all work fine for me.

Well except Windows 11. That thing is hot garbage. Windows 10 all the way

Flatpak fixes this or smth like that

Too much NIP research

Haha. Roblox hacks or similar more likely.

times r changing

I don't think he can even look at porn websites. I have shit locked down. It would take a lot of work. Though, I have seen him eyeing up a few notes on Nostr before.

that’s good! my childhood was cut short bc of it so that’s pretty awesome of you!

b4 that I was still playing with action figures and video games

after that- well you already know

Ouch!

Eh. It's a lesson. One that annoys me. But a lesson no doubt.

C’est la vie mon ami!

A good lesson. If it’s his computer, reinstall the OS and be back up and running in 30 minutes. I don’t store much on mine anymore. Everything is on the cloud. Easy reset.

I always got one virus at least once a year when I used windows. The problem users always end up downloading or torrenting some sort of windows software and that's where they usually end up getting a virus from. Since the majority of internet users use windows. It is targeted all the time.

After I changed to Linux I never got them. Since only a tiny minority of users use Linux. It's not targeted by hackers often and most simple things you can do via the terminal on Linux.

Gaming is the only issue. I have a second computer strictly for gaming that uses windows. I only use it for gaming and I have a KVM switch installation to easily switch.

I heard gaming is better on Linux these days but I've never tried it.

I have never gotten a virus on any of my computers since I use this setup. Wish I'l would of done that earlier.

I've never had a virus 😬

Do you have a Medicat USB? I'm guessing he's running Windows 10 or 11. Have you considered moving him to either a Chromebook or a Linux PC?
