It's interesting to see people choose to make something part of their identity just because others that share some value do so.

For example, in general:

- Gun advocates want to protect their family, but are less likely to get vaccinated or wear a mask in public

- Supporters of Black Lives Matter are less likely to support gun ownership

- Pro-life supporters are not more likely to be vegetarian

- People defending freedom are less likely to stand up for the freedom to cross dress, act gay, or even talk about issues like leaving transgender people alone

- People being against big banks preying on the poor are often also not supporters of cryptocurrencies that undermine those banks

The list goes on and on.

And now that I've probably pissed off nearly everyone on the entire internet by pointing out some of these contractions that are only possible because humans have been conditioned to put out and look for in-group signaling for millenia, I'll let the trolls respond and ignore every bullshit point they think they're trying to make.

...and why are they trying to make these points? in-group signaling!

Lmao na your pretty spot on there.

Zero thought given to internally consistent worldviews.

If you meditate regularly you can achieve a state where an itch is still there as a sensation but loses its meaning. In the same way I have lost frustration at the cognitive dissonance I see in the world. I'm now fascinated by how such contradictory ideas can be implanted in the same persons mind to coexist peacefully and even be used to defend each other.

I sometimes wonder if the media overlords are just pushing to see how stupid a set of beliefs they can implant.

Amen!
