I will argue it is honest; you 100% trust the operator of the service inherrently anyway. Not only CAN he give himself 1la 100 score, anything else would be silly to begin with

I trust myself more than the operator.
If I understand it correctly only the person from who's perspective the grapevine is calculated will score 100, not the operator of the calculation service.
Even if your understanding of how it is supposed to work is correct, you still trust the fact that that is actually how it works. I.e. you already trust the operator a priory the calculation.
Yup, a dishonest operator could def do some shenanigans. Which is why itâs so important that Brainstorm is open source so you can run it yourself! Ideally thatâs exactly what everyone would do. Maybe eventually thatâs exactly what will happen. But we realize that realistically, that wonât happen, which is why weâre setting it up so a tech-savvy person can run a Brainstorm instance as operator, garner âcustomersâ (or simply friends / family) and calculate scores on their behalf.
Thatâs correct: if weâre calculating the Grapevine from your perspective, then your đ-influence score is pegged at 1 (which shows up as 100 when we convert it to rank and show it on most clients). All other users are unpegged.
