Derangement syndrome detected.

Trump’s age is meaningless. Elon’s ability to context-shift is, frankly, mind-blowing.

I’m not painting them as perfect individuals - Elon obviously has some form of Bitcoin derangement syndrome despite making a shit ton of money on it with Tesla apparently, but they are IMO two of the most remarkable humans on the planet and working for America’s best interests right now, thank god.

Dude, Trump looks old as shit and worn down. Every interview is rambling and tired. The presser yesterday was hard to watch.

He isn't anywhere near the same guy he was in 2016.

Now, the people around him and actually doing these things is a different matter. Mostly young, energetic, smart.

He looks old as shit? He’s almost 80!

And 2016 was almost 10 years ago - he’s objectively in excellent cognitive shape, and goes for 14 hours a day. I’d say that’s good enough.

Agreed, the people around him are amazing. Totally different story to 2016.

Yes, exactly. It's insane we elected someone that is already past the life expectancy.

He is absolutely not in excellent cognitive shape. Watch him speak from 2020, 2016, 2012, 1995.

Not even the same guy.

So far it's been a flurry shit show of illegal exec orders and stuff that is meaningless or has no teeth. Stuff to please the lemmings mostly.

The right needs to calm down, he hasn't done anything of note that will last and survive legal challenges

The left needs to calm down, he hasn't done anything of note that will last and survive legal challenges.

I voted for him, and so far am very regretful in the first 2-3 weeks.

Four years may not be sufficient to enact meaningful changes in state systems, particularly when older generations maintain rigid worldviews. True transformation demands a generational shift in thinking that sees the state not merely as an instrument of control and edification, but as a platform that offers a flexible framework for action, facilitating collective cooperation among people.

As we found out during covid, if you disrupt a system, it can be incredibly difficult to just get it going again. And this applies to malignant systems too.

ALLS I’M SAYIN’ GUYS IS - THIS IS A SPECIAL TIME.

Politics doesn’t get any more exciting than this. At least peaceful politics.

Peaceful? They only deal in accusations.

The accusations of a coup seem like a form of pareidolia to me.

“It feels like a coup” > “Coups are usually violent” > “They are violent” > “They are criminals”

No, I mean the constant reference of criminality, stupidity, insufficiency, inefficiency and dishonestly in the political conversation. None of these concepts address peace, or elicit it.

Well, yeah - it’s not directionally peaceful, but at least it’s non-violent.

I’m talking about real coups, civil wars, etc - even more interesting (remember Prigozhin!) but let’s not go there.

Garbage in, garbage out. Also many words have eroded to the point of meaninglessness, producing just seas of noise any more.

“Derangement syndrome” is anyone who doesn’t think Trump and Elon aren’t literally gods? You need to go watch videos of Trump from eight years ago and videos of him today. He’s not the same person. Sure, he’s not like a moron, but the his age is definitely not meaningless.

Yeah he seems tired

I don’t think they’re perfect, far from it. But “Trump is cognitively incapable” and “Elon spends all day on Twitter” are lazy, unserious criticisms that deserve a response in kind, sorry.

His age *could* become a problem, and I personally think there should be an age limit on presidential candidates, but right now he’s basically the exception that proves the rule.

Even Politico agree!

But, to get back on point, I disagree with your original suggestion that everyone should chill out. Everyone, irrespective of where they stand politically should be quite excited (in the physics sense) indeed. It’s not business as usual in DC.

He seems as lucid as ever publicly, with a an actually discernible added measure of routine and experience.

I’d really strongly encourage you to watch side-by-side video from 8 years ago. Eg watch the two debates.

I watched him on Rogan, Theo Von and listened to his (mostly torturous) live X space with Elon - which was where Elon pitched him cold on Doge, as an aside. All live, unscripted, and extended performances. And just today i watched him speak impressively back in 2016.

I’m well aware, and I see nothing surprising or of particular concern for an almost 80 year old man who appears to be escaping dementia.

I would prefer to save the time, though I understand the relevance here. Do you mean that the so called weave, the tangents, have gotten more prominent?

Or do you really see another notable decline?

Sadly just a lot less overall clarity. Less coherent sentences making substantially less coherent points. People made fun of him eight years ago for this but mostly if you paid attention to politics and the goings-on you knew what he was referencing and he was making coherent arguments (whether you agreed or not). These days it’s much less follow-able.

I can see that, though he might have also just widened his scope a bit to personally less familiar topics during the second run, eg. BTC. The talking points during first run and term seemed pretty narrowly defined.

I didn’t say that Trump was “cognitively incapable”, you’re putting words in my mouth to argue a straw man. But, honestly go watch back to back videos of Trump. He’s capable, sure, but not what he was.

Ok, what did you mean by “Trump is literally ancient”? That he’s capable but less capable than before? Is that even a point worth making?

If so, sure…a somewhat diminished but more experienced Trump, and a 10x (at least) more capable and aligned cabinet is cool with me.
