There are 2 core literacies that are necessary to be a social human:
- The literacy of ideas (language & history)
- The literacy of actions (money & science)
In the states, we kind of teach the first ("practice" is a better word than "teach") and we completely ignore the second. We also teach some hippy dippy shit too, because let's be honest, building literacies isn't really the goal of the education system 🤷♂️
