Many people in both colonizer and post-colonial countries buy their second house, their next watch, their third car and their 10th phone upgrade - all on debt.

Because they can. Because it's easy and it's a status symbol.

We see it all around it.

But a lot of our Asian, African collaborators who've also never grown up in socialist economies can be like this.

Their govts never did/gave anything to them, so they always had to save up to buy assets and this, hate debt.
