A tale of 2 #bitcoin gifts:

Gift 1: sent directly to a bitcoin wallet. Instant & nearly free.

Gift 2: sent to CashApp wallet. App asked for user's social security number to send the bitcoin elsewhere.

Huge difference in UX and privacy. Actually using Bitcoin is way better than custodial options!

Love your site!! Would also love to see a "Bitcoin for non-profits" section that explains how volunteer organizations and non-profits can accept Bitcoin as a fundraising mechanism.

Same with Revolut in Europe. Asking for the full name of the owner of the recipient bitcoin address... Completely stopped using Revolut for Bitcoin DCAing after that.

Gift 1 presumably must have also been custodial lightning or maybe even better, ecash?

Non-custodial lightning 😄 although I know it has its own set of tradeoffs too.

Nice! How does that work without the receiver getting hit with a channel open fee?

They pay a channel open fee on apps like Breez.

With Muun it's a submarine swap (no fee) so I assume that is at least temporarily custodial but ultimately non-custodial once the payment is received.

Got it. Yeah I hope ecash keeps improving to become a stop gap for the amounts too small to justify a channel open fee, but hope non-custodial lightning keeps improving!

What's a good wallet to try out ecash?

I’ve been using e-nuts as my mobile wallet. Getting my nostr zaps through npub.cash
