How old were you when you got your first gun? What kind was it?

I'll go first...

I got a Remington 700 30-06 with a long-range scope for my 13th birthday. I grew up learning the importance of gun safety and how to shoot in case it was ever a necessity.

Your affinity to killing machines reveals your connection to nature.

Completely distorted, degenerate, abomination existence.

Dont judge nature.

Don't feed the troll. But, for the record: My affinity is for self-reliance and the ability to protect life when necessary.

biologically weak people need machines to protect them

My first was a Winchester 30-30.

Got my first moose with that gun.

Winchester 30-30 is a classic! I advocate for animal rightsβ€”my relationship with firearms is strictly self-defense and preparedness. I get it though. Different worlds, but we can relate on the tools. How old were you when you got the 30-30?

Animal rights and hunting are not mutually exclusive, since ethical hunting is humane, and, culturally, we are grateful for the animal and humbled by the experience.

Not trying to convince you, but hopefully that provides some insight.

And I was about 13, or so.

Understood. Different conclusions from similar experiences. I respect that you're not trying to convince me. At the end of the day, we both respect the tool and what it demands. That's a nice first firearm!

It was pretty great!

Covered a lot of miles in bear country with it as a self defense gun.

I've been told the newer ones lack the quality if those older models.

FYI the Remingtin 700 30-06 is a beautiful option, as well πŸ˜ŽπŸ‘Œ

Ithaca 20 Gauge from when they were all machined and not stamped parts.

Don't remember my exact age but probably similar.

I had my own gun rack in my bedroom that my dad made and hand carved.

To say that I grew up around guns is an understatement.

That gun rack sounds special. Those old Ithacas were built right. The quality shows.

I never got a gun.

I would rather make than buy. Maybe I should.

A viable option. Still legal in many states. Lots of good materials out there.

It was a water pistol at five years old. Other than that never got a gun or owned one. Much love πŸ’œ

Love it. Much love πŸ’œ

I pretty much always went hunting with my dad in my childhood. My first shot was a compressed air gun, then I was allowed to try a hunting shotgun and then I got to shoot with a hunting rifle. When I was a kid I always said I'll be a hunter. πŸ˜„

As an animal rights advocate, I don't have much for hunting except in all but the most extreme of survival situations, but I hear you. Love this story!

much better than raising and caging animals up to kill them imo.. πŸ’š but there are also very awful and unethical ways to hunt and lots of trophy fanatics.

Remington 22 bolt action, got it for my 21st Christmas. Took it to a gun shop and had scope grooves milled. Miss that pew pew.πŸš¬β˜•οΈπŸ˜

It’s interesting, no one has ever asked me this question before. Now that I’ve thought about it, I can’t remember when I got my first firearm because we always had them in our home as far back as I can remember and our father always let us use them to teach firearm safety, cleaning, and reloading. His firearms were our firearms. I still have some of his. Mingled within them are ones I’ve purchased but I’ll be damned if I can remember which are which.

I was 15. My grandfather gave me a Winchester Repeater. Beautiful gun.

never got a gun

where i live its not allowed to own guns
