Sometimes I question whether I get triggered for no reason, or am justified in how I feel.

A local organization just reached out asking for a discount, citing that our competitors charge 30% less. What they overlook is that we consistently develop NHL-caliber talent, and our top athletes dominate in their respective leagues. Meanwhile, those same competitors haven’t produced a single high-level pro.

I find it frustrating, even insulting, to be lumped into the same category. Developing elite athletes takes a level of expertise and skill set that not everyone has. And frankly, there’s a clear gap in skill and outcome between our competitors and ourselves.

Maybe it’s cockiness. Maybe it’s just calling reality for what it is. Either way, I know what my time is worth.

I get people fishing for discounts the same way. They want the quality services to match the poor quality of the cheaper ones. It's wild.

Many just live on a Proof of Stake mindset, where job titles reflect skill level, because of consensus mechanisms.

It is a disgusting trend in business thinking (or lack their of). I remember that commodification attitude when working in industry. It upset me too bc I what we were producing was far superior to our competitors.

It happens in my industry too. People constantly going around kicking tires.

I’ve been through something similar with my cannabis business. All you can do is stand your ground and keep serving the clients who understand.

if you weren’t valuable, they wouldn’t be trying to scam you out of your time.

Old boss’s response to people who pointed out the competition charged less, “well, I guess they know what their work is worth”. If you produce the results people want, no further conversation needed. 🚁😎

I think it is best to just delete such requests without response. Or would it be a deal, to support a an organisation, that makes good publicity for your company? Like do they have to offer you something in return? Or at least it is maby a request kind of a donation of the organisation?
