Off to a great start this season!

Got the red potatoes just starting to poke through now, red, white & yellow onions are rockin, garlic seems to be doing ok, kale has been dug up countless times by squirrels so there’s only a handful coming up which is fine because you really only need a 2-3 plants to get ya through the season.

I just transplanted carrots, lettuce, broccoli and cucumber into the ground thismorning. Waiting for watermelon and peppers to sprout before transplanting those. Season number 2 seems great so far and I really don’t know what exactly what I’m doing, but learning as I go is fine by me.

I do have a question for you garden gurus though, and it’s one thing I didn’t really think of, but where would I put marigolds? Garden is tight already.

Nicely farmed, Sir. Well done.

Thank you 🫡

Marigolds will do fine in containers, you could just put some in pots around the outside of the garden, or use some kind of hanging/window box type planter on your fence. Or put them in pots and move them around the garden through the season wherever you have room.

You might lose a tiny bit of the companion planting benefits by not having them share soil and root contact with your garden plants, but the insect repelling benefits will remain.

Ya we were thinking about hanging them off the posts around the perimeter, but not to sure if I want to go that route. I know I can sneak a couple in amongst the garlic where about 10-15% of the garlic just didn’t grow to well this spring.

Just lovely. 🥰

I need more room haha! I’ll expand again next year 🤙🏼

I’ve caught the gardening bug 🧑🏼‍🌾

Any ideas for keeping squirrels away? I just sprinkled some dried chicken shit pellets (bone meal) across the garden as they’ve been diggin again making a mess!

It keeps them away only for so long, then once the smell dissipates, they start digging again. 😕

Hot chile dust/flakes?

I’ll give it a shot, thanks for the tip🤙🏼

You should thin those broccoli to just one. Also i have never transplanted carrot but they might need a little thinning. Space about an inch at least. Grow baby grow

Ok thanks bud, I’ll do that tomorrow. 🤙🏼
