So I am using nostr:nprofile1qyt8wumn8ghj7etyv4hzumn0wd68ytnvv9hxgtcppemhxue69uhkummn9ekx7mp0qqsyv47lazt9h6ycp2fsw270khje5egjgsrdkrupjg27u796g7f5k0s0pfy4z and haven't been able to zap people for a while, although I can receive zaps. So I'm trying to sort that out this morning. Alby says I need to upgrade to my account and link a wallet, and that I can link my Alby wallet. No problem. But when I try, it looks like I either pay for Alby Cloud or set it up in ways that I'm not technically familiar with (and am not interested in learning at this point - self-hosting Alby Hub).

So I guess I'm looking for a lightning wallet to connect for zaps. I have seen suggestions for Phoenix, Breez, and Mutiny. It looks like I have to pay 40k sats just to get Mutiny up and going (am I right about that?).

Do people like Breez or Phoenix? Are there similar fees to get it up and going?

I guess I could just get the wallet in Primal going... I like the idea of having a lightning wallet that isn't strictly for nostr though... #asknostr

Coinos or bitvora

I ended up making a primal account for zaps. Though I use amethyst, I'll copy a note I want to zap and switch. I just haven't had the time or desire to figure out anything else. Also Primal is decent, I'm just happiest in amethyst because it's so easy to switch between profiles (I have 4 of them)

Good to know - thank you!

I was going to zap you from my Zeus wallet but just found out my channel was force closed 🤦‍♂️.

Weird.

People preach non-custodial. Which I get. But it seems like most zaps are small enough that it doesn’t make much of a difference. In fact, I think it’s worth the convenience to go custodial. At least right now. If you get enough zaps that you would be pissed if you lost it, just move it to self custody.

I do have strike too. That’s what I’m using now.

Back in business!

Mutiny? Thought they shut down...

At any rate, anything self-custody, like Phoenix, is going to have a bit more cost to set up, because there is an on-chain transaction involved, and you may also have LSP fees for them locking up liquidity to you, so you can receive right away.

I agree that custodial is fine for zapping. Primal's wallet is provided by Strike, and you can use it for zapping AND as a regular lightning wallet for any other type of lightning transaction. It's not a terrible option, though they are required to obtain some KYC since the wallets are provided via Strike, which is a regulated money transmitter.

If you want something you can sign up for without KYC, check out nostr:nprofile1qqstxwlea9ah3u6kjjszu6a7lrnhqkfh8eptp2z6v0e9558tlkkl2rg20d4vz or nostr:nprofile1qqs890du277adh7yucng2pgaaqzp69yv8350us4lxq0hr2nv75l997cd4rmzp .
