Shoupé Tower is a visionary mixed-use high-rise planned by KanLan for the Babolsar coastline in Mazandaran, Iran.

Rising along the Babolsar coastline in Mazandaran, Shoupé Tower is more than just a high-rise—it’s a tribute to the cultural and architectural heritage of northern Iran. Inspired by the Shoupé, the traditional night guards of rice paddies, the tower stands like a maritime beacon, overlooking both land and sea.

Designed as a vertical village, the 18-story, 22,000-square-meter structure reimagines mountain settlements in a contemporary form. Three distinct neighborhoods are stacked within the tower, each oriented differently to provide varied perspectives of the sea and city. The cascading layout of homes, shops, and plazas creates a dynamic, multi-layered public realm.

At its base, a two-story podium acts as a bridge between the urban landscape and the shore, integrating pedestrian pathways that extend through the tower’s public spaces. A network of alleys, streets, and markets animates the structure, blending residential life with communal interaction.
