I recorded the weights of the spices I used last time I made a blend. It made a ton, so you could probably cut the numbers by 5x. But this is a pretty good blend, and you can adjust it how you like with whole numbers.

- 100g green cardamom seeds (no pod)

- 66g black pepper

- 12g cinnamon

- 6g nutmeg

- 6g cloves

Blend them in a spice grinder and you're good to go. If you really like cinnamon, you can double its weight. And you can add other spices like star anise, fennel, etc. there are probably thousands of ways to make chai spice blends.

If you can get CTC leaves and some store-bought chai masala, you can a pretty good chai at home:

1 cup whole milk

1/4 cup water

1 tsp CTC tea leaves

1/2 to 1 tsp masala, to taste

1-2 tsp grated ginger

Bring it to a boil in a saucepan, and either lower your burner to medium, or move the pan so that it's only half on heating element, then boil it for 4 minutes and pour it through a strainer. Add about 2 tsp sugar or honey.

Many indians will use much less milk, and low-fat at that. And that's because they're pussies.

I've had a LOT of conversations with people about Nostr, really people who are aware of Nostr but don't use it.

There are a few things that come up.

* General admiration for Nostr and how it does tons of interesting things in terms of tech. It's way more flexible than ATprotocol or ActivityPub.

* Frustration with the way user accounts / logins / keys work. It's very confusing if you're not somebody who already understands crypto. Mostly it's confusing because of how we talk about it. If we tell people, here's your magic user text, paste this in places and you'll be magically logged in, they love it. If we try and explain custody and wallets and keys and browser extensions and all the ways you can login with Nostr, their eyes glaze over.

* Not feeling like it's a place for them. Everybody is talking about Bitcoin and Nostr. Most folks don't care very much about the underlying tools or how payments work. They want to talk about their interests, surfing, food, travel, their friends. or ten million other things. They see Nostr as a bitcoin place. Most people have either no opinion or a negative opinion of bitcoin because somebody tried to evangelize it too hard.

* Zaps, folks love zaps. I've heard from board members and the executives of Bluesky that they want zaps. Folks don't like bitcoin and bitcoin content but they do want the functionality. The problem is when creators come to Nostr, they only get zaps for content that is about nostr or bitcoin. There's no good way to build and sustain themselves with other content.

* Algorithms - we all have a love hate relationship with algorithms. We say we don't want them, but we choose to use systems with algorithms. We have them in nostr with DVM's and it works. But it's not well integrated in to the apps and most feed services via DVM's are way too slow. The algorithm helps people be seen, grow an audience, find their people, keep being engaged. We built the proof of concept but didn't make it in to a good product.

These things that keep people from Nostr are fixable. What i'm going at with my podcast is to build a larger movement, Nostr is a solution, but people on Nostr aren't my intended audience. ;-D

This is annoying. Got a CSAM report for user-generated content that I'm not even hosting. There's nothing I can delete. Apparently Cloudflare wants me to implement censorship lists.

Nostr clients are not legally required to maintain censorship lists any more so than web browsers like Chrome or Firefox are. There's just Cloudflare policy and guilt by association. Understandably, it's easy to confuse a web application url like iris.to/npub1... for a content host.

Should I implement ever-growing censorship lists, at least for visitors who are not logged in? The problem is, someone can just create a new Nostr account and re-post the links to illegal content ad infinitum. When this happens, maybe Cloudflare will get the point. Or more likely, they'll just delete my account.

Maybe there's some other ISP that allows hosting of applications that don't ship with extralegal censorship lists?

Iris native app via Tauri could be a resilient direction, but it kind of defeats the purpose of having a web app in the first place: ease of access, sharing by url and mobile PWAs that bypass app stores.. If you're going to have a native app, actually native-built will probably have better UX.
