Some people can see great potential in things even while they're in a rough draft. Others take a little more time to be convinced and can't see past the initial problems. They'll come around eventually and probably at the same point in the cycle that they were convinced on bitcoin after first hearing about it.

And some can see not only the potential utility, but that those “problems” have an array of potential solutions, rendering them negligible, almost irrelevant, if the right action is taking toward pursuing that potential.
