#[4] what do you think? I would love to read her thoughts on it #[5]
Fantastic Fungi was one of the first movies we saw together, featuring the legendary Paul Stamets.
After it ended, I remember remarking how mycelium networks reminded me so much of bitcoin.
There’s even an old bitcoin wallet for Android called Mycelium, but I’m not sure it’s still being developed or supported anymore.
#[4] – #Nostr is seeking your 🍄 knowledge!
There are maybe some parallels? Like a mycelial network is fundamentally decentralized (there is no central ‘brain’ controlling the operation) and can be quite far-reaching. I would be curious what the other parallels you see are. There isn’t a clear parallel to a fruiting body (the mushrooms you see aboveground) that I can envision, but I know a lot more about fungi than Bitcoin, so maybe I’m missing something here.
Oh wait now I see the article! More after I can read it.

So, the part about a slime mold recreating the Tokyo subway map is true. But, slime molds are not actually fungi. They are more closely related to amoebas.
#[6] There’s a mycologist in the house if you would like to discuss some updates to your article. 🍄

The cellular structure of Physarum slime molds is pretty different from most fungi - one giant cell with many nuclei. They are pretty amazing though, also famous for solving mazes!
Agreed, very different species.
Both useful to describe aspects of bitcoin 👍
Here’s the full essay btw

I’m curious 👀
It’s being developed.
