Trying out Cashu only takes 3 minutes. Here's the explainer: https://maxmoney.substack.com/p/ecash-for-better-bitcoin-privacy

Why do we need this?
You are replying to a blog post that answers your question.
#Bitcoin removed third party and this reintroduce third party. So my question stands. Why do we need this?
From what I'm understanding, so far: it's a 3rd layer bitcoin application on the lightning network, that allows low friction, private, offline/online payments. There's the third party involved as the "mint", but you can also be the mint and then you're the third party. If it's necessary for bitcoin? No. Although it is another interesting option that may or may not catch on. Lightning network definitely did catch on as a 2nd layer (it's also potential third party involved, but you don't see many sceptics anymore).
Yeah I already looked into that. I just won't do it before I learn a bit more about it. I'm thinking of eventually runnig a mint. Using ecash seems pretty easy, not sure about running a mint. It definitely caught my attention, so I want to learn more. Thanks for the link π
