Older nostr DMs (NIP-04) had metadata leaks, you knew who was talking to whom even if you couldn't see the messages themselves. A lot of clients still use it. The bot is letting everyone know about this leak.
Newer NIP 17 DMs don't have this problem, and is available on a lot of clients.

On the contrary amethyst has had NIP17 DMs for a long while, you just need to add private inbox relays I think.

You could add any relay you like, the only difference is a "private" relay would also hide the fact that you received any DM at all, a public relay would leak the info that you received a DM but not from whom you received it. You can make this choice depending on the level of privacy you require, inbox.nostr.wine is a paid private DMs relay
