With temperatures plunging to -8F and not getting above freezing this week we have had to work extra to make sure the livestock have water.

One tip I learned last year was to keep water in a large thermos. This works great for our sheep. The coldest temperatures only resulted in a thin layer of ice at the top of the container. At no point has it frozen solid. It also retains the heat longer when we pour in warm water.

Water is life.

That is a good idea! Can you leave the lid off overnight or do you need to close it to avoid freezing?

We have been leaving the lid off, more likely no thinking to put it on. 😁
