When you take a picture in low light conditions would you rather it be dimmer or whatever the hell this is?

It looks like a painting
I'd rather the camera just do its best to capture what it really looks like rather than alter the photo with an algo/filter. What's the point of having a 50 mega pixel camera of it's going to do crap like this?
