Anyone watch what bitcoin did with Eric wall?
He was trying to claim all Nostr users are using centralized services to do micropayments and that eth users are actually being more decentralized, this is demonstratively false although some are using central services (myself included for receiving zaps), it’s easy enough to send sats from self custody and there are things in the works to do receives to self custody and if you are enough of a power user now you are already doing this.
Do you know of any good guides out there that recommend a non-custodial wallet for zaps and show how to configure a nostr client to work with it?🙏🤔😁
I’m running mynode on a raspberry pi which I connect to on my phone using Zeus to send zaps non custodially - it’s actually quite easy to set up (you can do this without mynode and set everything up yourself as well) and there are although mobile wallets like Zeus that allow you to do this
Lightning address currently needs a public web server so that is why I can’t receive non custodially
So I'd have to run a lightning node to do it?😳
My current strategy (not that I expect to be ZAPPPPed that much, but I would like to sell some products and services) is to continue using WoS, but send sats to cold storage periodically...
Alby lets you use their LNURL service to link directly with an LND node (even running over TOR) for non-custodial zaps.

When I first showed up here, a good friend recommended Alby and Bluewallet... Took me a while to get that set up, and then Bluewallet immediately announced that they were shutting down!😮
So I switched to WoS and was amazed how easy it was to set up... So I've been recommending that, with the caveat that it's custodial...
Guess I need to learn more about Lightning ⚡ and get the hardware I need to run core bitcoin + a lightning ⚡ node...

Alby is a Lightning wallet service that offers both custodial and non-custodial options. You can use the browser extension to login to Nostr. They offer a browser-based custodial wallet that can also be imported via LNDhub into other apps like #[6] and BlueWallet.
BlueWallet is NOT shutting down. BlueWallet is ending service for their custodial lightning node only. The app will continue to work, and you can use it in conjunction with Alby, or any other LND node.
WoS is a closed-loop Lightning wallet that works very well but you have no control over how your sats are managed. Great for onboarding, but not ideal for users who want to get more out of the Lightning Network.
If you run your own node, you are in full control over your channels, and you can run your own services or integrate with other third-party apps and services to add functionality.
Alby offers LND node runners the ability to forward LNURL payments directly to their own nodes, giving them a zappable Lightning Address, but without a counterparty holding thier sats.

Yes that is a good start but to be non custodial you will need to run your own btc and lightning node
