Hypothetically if someone got [mauled by a freakishly huge chihuahua] right next to a traveling blood bank van, and they were losing a ton of blood, and the ambulance people arrived and all said “he’s gonna die from blood loss by the time we make it to the hospital,” would they be permitted to get some blood from the blood van to save his life?

This is oddly specific.

Without mentioning the capacity to test for compatible blood types or even if they have necessary equipment...

NO THIS ISN'T AN EXCUSE TO DRINK ANOTHER PERSON'S BLOOD THATS NOT HOW YOU DO A BLOOD TRANSFUSION

fucked up if true

In this scenario, between the equipment the van has and the equipment the ambulance has, they can pull it off. The question is legally would they be allowed to save him or are they basically forced to let him die

Nothing is certain, but they would likely do everything possible to save the person’s life. They would be protected by laws such as the “Good Samaritan Law.”

Depends entirely on the level of fucks given by each involved, I’d think.
