Encryption infuriates politicians and other elites. It's the main thing that's preventing a next level of control and narrative. I expect there to be a 'crisis' in the next few years that leads the public to accept surveillance with open arms. Have to stay very vigilant and fight.

Yeah, similar. And with the avenues for face to face discussion increasingly dwindling, online surveillance becomes orders of magnitude more powerful and effective than the old analog methods, such as bugging, informants, opening mail etc..
