Set a low fee rate and be patient.
Make the channel size twice as large as what you think your largest lightning purchase will be.
Maximize the opportunity and look at liquidity swaps that you are eligible for on lightningnetwork.plus. You can turn one outgoing channel opening into an agreement that you will also receive incoming liquidity.
Ok cool ill have to check it out. Is 1m sats enough to start?
1m sats is a good channel size, but also consider the connectivity of your node. You want to establish a path that will ensure delivery and receipt.
Here is a liquidity swap agreement for a 500k channel. One of the nodes is "silver" which means it will put your node on a well-connected routing path.
I was looking at that but it was saying inalready needed to be on the gossip network. And apparently I'm not. Said to open stleast 1 channel
Hrm! Gotta start somewhere. Maybe open a small "walking around money" channel just to get your foot in the door.
With who tho
What is a path you zap along often? Walletofsatoshi? Getalby? Stackernews?
Alby
I would say if you plan to spend there often, a channel is worth establishing. Be careful with fees. Keep them low and don't be in a rush. If the open transaction has change, you can always bump the fee, if you really think you have to.
Tried to do 100k with get alby and it said .1 minimum
if you run Umbrel you can use your own node: https://blog.getalby.com/nostr-wallet-connect-comes-to-umbrel/
or Alby for #1tapzaps because you can connect Alby to Amethyst or Damus on mobile or the Alby browser extension for all Nostr web clients.
